Prior to its current release date, Minions: The Rise of Gru had been delayed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fans should’ve been able to meet Gru and his yellow army in 2020. However, the delay ended when the film debuted at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on June 13, 2022. Receiving positive responses, Minions: The Rise of Gru is also finally ready to entertain the masses on the big screen.
The voices of Gru and the Minions in the Despicable Me franchise are iconic and are attractive in itself. That’s why Steve Carell (The Office) will return to his role as the villain Gru. Likewise, Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me) will continue his role in voicing the Minions.
In addition to the two familiar voice actors, several big names also brought the film to life: Taraji P. Henson (Hidden Figures), Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Julie Andrews (The Princess Diaries), and Alan Arkin (Spenser Confidential).
