The latest story from the tale of the nine-tailed fox will be present in the drama series ‘Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938’ which is scheduled to air from Saturday, May 6, 2023. The drama, which again presents Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum as the main characters, can be watched online via tvN’s live streaming video platform.
As the title suggests, ‘Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938’ tells the life of the gumiho Lee Yeon, played by Lee Dong Wook, in 1938. Lee Yeon’s struggle to return to the present to reunite with the people he loves is the main plot of this 12 episodes drama series.
According to the director, Kang Shin Hyo, the new season of the series ‘Tale of the Nine-Tailed’ is set in a time when Lee Yeon neglected his duties as a mountain god the most and the time he was with the people who needed his help the most. Kim So Yeon and Ryu Kyung Soo will complete the line-up of the main characters, playing Ryu Hong Joo and Cheon Moo Young, Lee Yeon’s childhood friends.

Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 Storyline
An unexpected case made Lee Yeon (Lee Dong Wook) thrown into the past, to 1938 to be precise. This incident started Lee Yeon’s struggle to be able to return to the present and unite with the people he loves.
In 1938, Lee Yeon again met his childhood friend, Ryu Hong Joo (Kim So Yeon), a mountain guard in the West who was one of the three mountain guardian spirits with Lee Yeon and Cheon Moo Young (Ryu Kyung Soo) in his childhood.
But in this period, Ryu Hong Joo was not a mountain god but the owner of the elite Myoyeongak restaurant in the capital city of Gyeongseong. Even Ryu Hong Joo was fascinated by Lee Yeon’s appearance from the start of their meeting, even though she couldn’t have the handsome young man.
Lee Yeon also met his younger brother, Lee Rang (Kim Bum), and the mountain god for the East, Cheon Moo Young. But an incident made Cheon Moo Young become hostile to Lee Yeon. Meanwhile, as it is today, in 1938 Lee Rang was still a rebel who made things difficult for his older brother.
