Hou Ming Hao and Zhou Ye are collaborating in the new fantasy-romance drama series, ‘Back from the Brink’, which is scheduled to air from Tuesday, May 09, 2023. This 40-episode drama can be watched online via the live streaming video platform Youku.
The story ‘Back from the Brink’, also known as ‘Heart Protection’, was adapted from the novel ‘Hu Xin’ by Jiu Lu Fei Xiang. Previously, several of the writer’s works that had been successfully adapted into hit drama series included ‘Love Between Fairy and Devil (Canglan Jue)’ and ‘The Legends (Zhao Yao)’.
Apart from Neo Hou and Zhou Ye, Yang Rong, Wang Yi Lun, and Chen Xin Yu also completed the main cast. The drama, which tells about the adventures of an ancient dragon incarnate and a Taoist girl who cultivates immortality, is a collaborative work between two award-winning directors – He Shu Pei and Zeng Xiao Yu.

Back from the Brink Storyline
Yan Hui (Zhou Ye), a Taoist girl who cultivates immortality, was expelled from the cultivation sect because of her rebellious nature. Yan Hui accidentally meets Tian Yao (Hou Ming Hao), the incarnation of an ancient dragon who was seriously injured and heartbroken after being betrayed by the woman he loves, Su Ying (Yang Rong), the ruler of the Guanghan Sect.
Not only was he betrayed, Tian Yao also lost his dragon bone and was sealed in all directions by the power of the five elements. Luckily Tian Yao’s soul managed to escape. He also hid in a small village while waiting for an opportunity to retrieve his missing bones by using Yan Hui.
Surprisingly, the deeper their relationship made Tian Yao admire Yan Hui’s efforts to save him even more. Until finally Yan Hui realized that she was in the middle of a conspiracy and tried to find the truth about her true origins.
