Actress Kirstie Alley passed away on Monday (5/12/2022) evening local time at the age of 71 after going through a short battle with cancer. The sad news was announced by Alley’s children, True and Lillie Parker, through their official social media pages.
“To all our friends far and wide around the world…we are sad to inform you that our amazing, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, recently discovered,” wrote True and Lillie Parker via Twitter.
Not specifically mentioned the type of cancer suffered by the actress who has won the Emmy Awards twice. But the family thanked the doctors and nurses at Moffitt Cancer Center in Florida for caring for their mother.
Born in Kansas in 1951, Kirstie Alley was loved for her role as Rebecca Howe in the popular TV series ‘Cheers’, opposite Ted Danson.
“I am so sad and so grateful for all the times she made me laugh. I send my love to her children. As they know, their mother has a heart of gold. I will miss her,” said Ted Danson.
In the 1980s and 1990s, Alley starred in various films including the romantic comedy genre hit in 1989, ‘Look Who’s Talking’ with John Travolta. The film was later made into a trilogy, all three starring Kirstie Alley and John Travolta.
“Kirstie is one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will meet again,” wrote John Travolta via Instagram.
