This is the second meeting between the two teams, previously Thailand beat Estonia on penalties in the 2004 King’s Cup.
Estonia failed to qualify for Euro 2024, did not win at all in the group stage and had to suffer several heavy defeats. They lost 5-0 at home to Sweden in September, not registering a single shot on target in the entire match, and also struggled away to Belgium, losing 5-0 at the King Baudouin stadium. In their last match, they lost 0-2 at home to Azerbaijan, meaning they are currently at the bottom of group F.
On the other hand, Thailand also did not have a satisfactory result in their last match, when they lost 0-8 to Georgia, their worst defeat since losing 0-9 to England in 1956. They only had one shot on goal in the entire match. Changsuek will always struggle when facing strong opponents in Europe, and they also have problems in preparation.
Thailand’s national team players did not receive food from the country’s football federation (FAT) for their trip to Estonia. Instead, they have to buy fast food at the airport, which is not good for their health and performance.
Estonia will likely field the same line-up as their previous match against Azerbaijan, with Rauno Sappinen spearheading their attack. The 25-year-old has scored four goals for his country, including one against Belgium in June.
Meanwhile, Thailand may make some changes after the embarrassing defeat to Georgia. Coach Mano Polking might give several young players such as Ekanit Panya, Supachok Sarachat and Suphanat Mueanta the opportunity to show their talents.
Even though Estonia experienced many difficulties in qualifying for Euro 2024 but they will not experience any problems when facing Thailand tonight. Considering that Georgia beat Changsuek 8-0 on Thursday, Estonia is expected to end a streak of seven matches without a win at the A. Le Coq Arena stadium tonight.
