Lazio will host Monza in Week 5 of Serie A on Saturday (23/9) afternoon. This is a match between two teams who are experiencing difficulties at the start of the season, both in the domestic league and in Europe.
Lazio have just snatched a dramatic 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League thanks to a late header from goalkeeper Ivan Provedel. However, coach Maurizio Sarri is certainly not satisfied with his team’s performance, which has to rely on the goalkeeper’s scoring ability to penetrate the opponent’s goal.
One of the main reasons why Lazio is having difficulty scoring goals is the departure of mainstay midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic (SMS). Meanwhile, Monza is also facing many problems, both in the local league and in the Europa League. The team, which last season managed to finish in fourth place and reach the semifinals of the Europa League, is now slumped in 16th place with 4 points, just ahead on goal difference from the relegation zone.
