Inter Milan, the reigning Coppa Italia champions, will meet Fiorentina, six-time Coppa Italia winners, in the Coppa Italia final on Wednesday at the Stadio Olimpico.

Inter Milan beat Juventus 4-2 in the Coppa Italia final last season and won the title. In Serie A, Inter have an 11-point lead over Fiorentina in the standings, giving the Nerazzurri the upper hand in the decider in Rome.

Last weekend, Inter Milan lost 1-3 to Napoli but it didn’t really matter because the opponent was already the Serie A champion. Coach Simone Inzaghi also only played reserve players to keep the core players fit ahead of important matches, such as the Coppa Italia final.

Therefore, it is hard to imagine Inter Milan will use team B even though Fiorentina is rated lower. After all, the Coppa Italia is a trophy they can win compared to the Champions League final against Man City. Meanwhile, it took Fiorentina 120 minutes to beat Basel in the second Conference League semi-final. Because of that, they didn’t have a physical advantage like the opponent. But of course, the purple jersey team will fight it out in the final because titles are very important. Maybe, Fiorentina are underappreciated but in one decisive final, we don’t know what can happen.

There is still a lot of pressure but wins in Rome and then in Istanbul, where the Nerazzurri will take on Manchester City in June will see Inzaghi potentially clinch a historic treble with Inter.
