Match Preview
In recent times, the Nantes football team managed to record two wins and two draws. However, when they had to play in two competitions at once, namely in the domestic league, Ligue 1 and in the European League, Nantes could not survive.
Indeed, the depth of Antoine Kombouaré’s squad was not enough, and they continued to play intense matches that eventually left the players weak. In the match against Juventus, Nantes suffered a 3-0 defeat, and before that the team nicknamed Les Canaris also lost by a large margin of 1-3 to RC Lens.
Although Rennes failed to reach the last 16 of the Europa League, their recent form has actually improved. First, they managed to beat Clermont in the League, and then they also did quite well against Shakhtar Donetsk.
These two matches showed that the tactics used by Bruno Génésio underwent significant changes, with players in a more defensive position in midfield, and increasing the transition from defense to attack. If they can continue this trend, Les Rouges et Noirs – the nickname of the Rennais club – has the potential to break into third place in the standings.
In recent years, Rennes has shown a huge advantage in the match against Nantes. In their last seven meetings, Rennes managed to record five wins, one draw and one defeat, and now they are back on the right track.
On the other hand, Nantes’ performance has declined. Last season, Nantes finished 9th in the French League, while until the 24th week of this season, Nantes was still entrenched in 13th place.

Team News
According to the Sportmole website, Antoine Kombouare is expected to change the tactics of his team by changing from five defenders to four defenders, which means Sebastien Corchia will most likely replace Jean-Charles Castelletto.
Interestingly enough, Bruno Génésio is also expected to have some big changes in the starting XI. Arthur Theate and Joe Rodon are expected to return to the starting lineup as the regular centre-back duo, meaning neither Warmed Omari nor Jeanuel Belocian are expected to start.
It’s always interesting to see how a line-up change affects a team’s performance. Who do you think will come out victorious in this match? Based on the performance of the two teams above, Rennes is predicted to have a greater chance of winning this match. But, in football anything is possible, we’ll see!
