The Japan team will challenge the El Salvador team in a Friendly Match in Toyota Stadium Stadium, Toyota on Thursday, June 15, 2023. For streaming coverage of Japan vs El Salvador, preview and how to watch it, see in this article.
Samurai Blue is going through a crisis of confidence after three games without a win, including a draw and a loss at the 2023 Kirin Cup. Japan has a big problem with ineffective finishing. In the last three matches, they created many clear chances to score but were only able to score three goals.
At home, coach Hajime Moriyasu’s team is also unstable with only three wins, two draws and three defeats in the last eight matches in Indonesia. However, facing a weaker opponent like El Salvador is a good opportunity for the Asian team to end their three-match winless streak.
Before meeting El Salvador, the Japanese team had two trial matches against Uruguay and Colombia. As a result, they were unable to win after drawing 1-1 with Uruguay and losing 1-2 to Colombia.
Meanwhile, El Salvador has gone six matches without winning, including four consecutive defeats in all competitions. Even worse, in these four defeats, coach Hugo Perez’s team was only able to score one goal. And, at home to their opponents, El Salvador has only won once in the last 11 matches (two draws and eight defeats).
After the disappointing results in the previous two matches, especially the 1-2 loss to Colombia, coach Hajime Moriyasu will make some changes to make a difference for his team. As such, it is likely that Ryoya Morishita will start at left-back, while Wataru Endo will be deployed as a central midfielder to allow Daichi Kamada to play the number 10 role.
Apart from that, well-known midfielder Kaoru Mitoma will also be a starter to help his team achieve their first win in this year’s tournament. The 25-year-old player has been in brilliant form for Brighton and was highly anticipated by Japanese fans against El Salvador.
On the other hand, it is likely that coach Hugo Perez will maintain the line-up that lost 0-1 to the US in the last game in the meeting with the upcoming hosts Japan. However, the only change may be up front, as forward Cristian Gil will start, partnering Brayan Gil Hurtado for El Salvador to play with two strikers instead of one as in the game against USA.
The question is whether Japan can win with a big goal difference. As mentioned, “Samurai Blue” has always failed to live up to their fans’ expectations in their last four matches, all in the seeded role.
However, El Salvador will not give up easily and will play with high spirits to match Japan’s game. Provisional prediction, the final score of the match Japan 2-1 El Salvador.
