William Chan (Chen Wei Ting) and Zhang Ruo Nan are ready to greet fans through the latest romance drama, ‘A Date with the Future’, which is scheduled to start airing on Monday, April 3, 2023. The drama series adapted from the web novel ‘Shi Guang Ru Yue’ by Xiao Lu can be watched online via the live streaming video platform Tencent Video (WeTV).
A Date with the Future’, also known as ‘Illuminate You’, presents a love story set in the professional world that brings together a handsome firefighter and a beautiful journalist. This is also the first collaboration between William Chan and Zhang Ruonan in a television series.
Meanwhile for William Chan, this drama is a ‘comeback’ event after the last time he greeted Chinese drama fans through the historical drama ‘Novoland: Pearl Eclipse’ at the end of 2021. A number of other artists who also appeared included Ren Hao, Ci Sha, Luo Qiu Yun, Jia Nai, and Wang Yu Zhen.

A Date with the Future Storyline
An earthquake that occurred ten years ago witnessed a contract agreement made between a firefighter, Jin Shi Chuan (William Chan), and Xu Lai (Zhang Ruo Nan), a girl he managed to save. Although reluctant, in order to appease Xu Lai who at that time was trapped and thus injured and emotionally unstable, Jin Shi Chuan pretended to agree to the ‘ten year contract’.
Ten years later, a grown-up Xu Lai returns to China after completing her education as a journalist and being certified as an international dog trainer. An incident brought Xu Lai back to Jin Shi Chuan.
But Jin Shi Chuan did not recognize Xu Lai. He even misunderstood and regarded Xu Lai as an unscrupulous reporter.
When the Search and Rescue Dogs (SAR Dogs) team was formed, Xu Lai was involved as a dog trainer and was entrusted with being the head of the City Fire Rescue Special Service Brigade. This leads her to partner with Jin Shi Chuan, the captain of the dog Search and Rescue Unit.
