MotoGP Argentina 2023 enters its second day on Saturday (4/1/2023) by presenting the third free practice (FP3), qualification and sprint race. Sprint races are short races that can provide additional points for riders in the main MotoGP standings. The sprint race will not affect the starting position of the main race which will be held on Monday (3/4/2023) at 00.00 WIB.

Aprilia racer, Aleix Espargaro, is the favorite to win the sprint race after recording the fastest time in the second free practice (FP2) with 1 minute 38.518 seconds. His teammate, Maverick Vinales, followed in second place with 1 minute 38.680 seconds.
Both of them have secured a place in the second qualification (Q2) with eight other drivers, namely Marco Bezzecchi, Luca Marini, Johann Zarco, Francesco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin, Takaaki Nakagami, Franco Morbidelli and Alex Rins.
Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo, who was the world champion last season, had to be content with being in 14th place with the best record time of 1 minute 39.264 seconds. The Yamaha racer must pass the first qualification (Q1) first to qualify for Q2.
Another rider who was absent from the sprint race was Miguel Oliveira who was injured after being hit by Marc Marquez at the Portugal MotoGP last week. Marquez himself also did not participate in the race in Argentina because he was still serving sanctions due to the incident.
