2022 World Cup Quarter-Finals: Manchester United and Man City Send the Most Representatives

Manchester United and Manchester City are the two English clubs with the most representatives in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals.

The 2022 World Cup which is being held in Qatar has entered the quarter-finals which will start today December 9. The 8 national teams that will play in the quarter-finals are England, Netherlands, Argentina, France, Croatia, Morocco, Brazil and Portugal. The most player contributions in the top 8 round were the duo of Manchester clubs namely Man United and Man City.

Man Utd has 11 representatives in the last 8 of a total of 14 players who have played since the group stage. They are Lisandro Martinez (Argentina), Harry Maguire (England), Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford (England), Bruno Fernandes (Portugal), Diogo Dalot (Portugal), Tyrell Malacia (Netherlands), Fred, Casemiro (Brazil), Antony ( Brazil), Raphael Varane (France).

Cristiano Ronaldo, who also took part in the 2022 World Cup, was actually registered as a Man Utd player. However, due to various problems that have arisen, currently the Portugal national team captain is on a ‘free transfer’ status. If you include the 38-year-old striker, Man United has sent the most representatives in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup.

Man City also has 11 players competing in the quarter-finals out of a total of 16 players. They are Julian Alvarez (Argentina), Kyle Walker (England), Kalvin Phillips, John Stones, Jack Grealish, Phil Foden (England), Nathan Ake (Netherlands), Joao Cancelo, Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva (Portugal), and Ederson ( Brazil).

The Club Receives Financial Compensation from Every Player

Clubs that send representatives to the 2022 World Cup will receive financial compensation from the World Football Federation (FIFA). The more players from the club who play in the 2022 World Cup, it will obviously increase the income for the club.

Based on the latest news, FIFA is providing a fund of 200 million USD to pay the clubs whose players participate in the World Cup. Each club will receive around £9,000 ($10,000) per day from any player participating in the 2022 World Cup, regardless of whether they are starters or substitutes.

Thus, the more players a club has in the 2022 World Cup, and the further their country’s team can advance from each round, the more money the club can earn. Apart from Man City and Man Utd, Premier League clubs that have also sent players to the World Cup include Chelsea (12 players), Liverpool (7 players), Arsenal (9 players), Tottenham (11 players), Newcastle (5 players).

In comparison, each club with players contributing to the 2018 World Cup will receive £6,440 ($8,530) per day from each player. This number rises in the 2022 World Cup as FIFA staged the competition during the ongoing premier league season. This is to adjust to the weather conditions in Qatar as the host. Usually, FIFA holds the World Cup when all major league competitions enter the holiday period, namely in June – July.
