Liverpool and Arsenal will meet again in the Premier League Week 18 at the Anfield Stadium, Liverpool Saturday, December 23, 2023. Live streaming information, how to watch, match previews and lineup predictions can be found in this article.
Liverpool, who have won 11 of their 17 games this season and lost just one, appear to be in their best form. Jurgen Klopp’s men have shown a strong comeback after the disappointment of the 2022/23 season, and before round 17, they were even at the top of the Premier League standings.
However, while these numbers are impressive, Liverpool’s style of play has not been completely convincing. There are many matches where Mohamed Salah et al beat their opponents not because of dominance, but because of moments and situations. For example, in the match against Crystal Palace two weeks ago, they only won thanks to a red card received by their opponents.
Arsenal, on the other hand, have shown significant growth in terms of mentality in big games this season. They have beaten Manchester City and got a point on Chelsea despite being two goals behind.
Even though the Gunners have lost to Newcastle and Aston Villa in away matches, Arsenal have come back and shown significant improvement by beating Brighton 2-0 in the last EPL match thanks to goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.
In terms of team strength ahead of Week 18 of the EPL, Liverpool will lose several key players such as Matip, Robertson and Jota, and most likely Mac Allister. On the other hand, Mikel Arteta will only lose defender Tomiyasu. This could be the deciding factor in this match.
Looking back, in the last meeting between the two teams at Anfield, Arsenal played very well and even led the hosts by two goals through attacks from Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus, but the match ended up being a 2-2 draw due to counter goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.
Based on the facts above, with strong attacking power and a strong back line, Arsenal clearly has a good chance of getting at least one point at Anfield.
