The Brazil U17 national team match against the Argentina U17 in Quarter-Finals of the FIFA U17 World Cup on Friday, November 24, 2023 will be held at the Jakarta International Stadium Stadium, Jakarta.
U17 Brazil started the 2023 U17 World Cup with a shock defeat to U17 Iran. They led the match 2-0 at the break, but ended up losing 2-3 at the final whistle.
After the defeat, the young Selecao quickly recovered and became a strong candidate for the championship again. In particular, Phelipe Leal’s team won the last two matches in the group stage against U17 New Caledonia and title contender U17 England. A few days ago, Brazil added an easy win over Ecuador with a score of 1-3 through two goals from Estevao and Luighi Hanri.
On the other hand, U17 Argentina entered the round of 16 with a similar performance to U17 Brazil. They also lost their opening game and then won their next three games until the round of 16.
In the last match, Venezuela U17 was the opponent who was made immobile by Diego Placente’s troops. The Argentina U17 national team won 5-0 through 4 different players namely Balbo, Lopez, Echeverri, Ruberto scored 2 goals in the round of 16 of the FIFA U17 World Cup which was held in Indonesia.
The two teams last met at U17 level in the Conmebol U17 championship in April 2023. This match at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa, Quito ended in victory for the Brazilian U17 team with a score of 3-2.
Three of the last five matches between U17 Brazil and U17 Argentina saw no more than 2 goals per game. Given the early nature of the final matches, U17 Brazil and U17 Argentina opted for a safe playing style and it was difficult to ask for this match to produce many goals.
With current form, Brazil U17s and Argentina U17s are expected to provide one of the most exciting quarter-final matches of the tournament. It is possible that the two football giants from South America will need additional time to determine the winner.
