Marseille will host Le Havre at the Stade Vélodrome in Week 8 of Ligue 1, Sunday (8/10/2023). This will be the first meeting between the two teams in the national league for a long time. Marseille hopes to end their winless streak, while Le Havre wants to improve their position in the standings.
Marseille has been experiencing a decline in performance recently, not only in Ligue 1 but also in the Europa League where they are not getting satisfactory results. After playing quite impressively at the start of the season by achieving consecutive wins and good results, Marseille is now facing many difficulties. They have been unable to win 6 matches in a row in all competitions. Clearly, Marseille will still have many challenges ahead if they continue playing as they are now.
Le Havre, on the other hand, should have played better after a 4-match unbeaten run in Ligue 1 which boosted their morale, but in their last match they lost 0-2 at home. They make it increasingly difficult for themselves to improve their position in the standings when they have to visit in week 8.
It cannot be denied that the home team is not in the best condition. However, the experience and advantage of playing at home will help them get a greater chance of winning. Marseille is aware that the chances of ending the winless streak are not many. In fact, this team often played actively and gained a quick lead in the first half.
Most likely, Marseille will continue to show this style of play and of course together with Le Havre who are also not bad at scoring goals it will create an interesting match. Le Havre has two players who have scored more than 10 goals this season, namely Cameron Green (12 goals) and Tim David (11 goals). They will be a threat to Marseille’s back line which often concedes goals.
Playing at home will make Marseille more confident and easier to control the game than Le Havre. This of course will give them a greater chance of getting three points than Le Havre. However, a strong determination to add points can make Le Havre appear extraordinary.
