Fortuna Sittard will face Ajax at the Fortuna Sittard Stadium this Sunday in the continuation of the Eredivisie competition. The two teams have had different starts to the season, with Fortuna Sittard in eighth place and Ajax in second.
Fortuna Sittard drew 2-2 against Excelsior in their last match. They trailed by two goals in the first half, but managed to come back in the second half with goals from Deroy Duarte and Mouhamed Belkheir. This was their second draw of the season, having previously held Feyenoord 1-1.
Coach Danny Buijs will probably maintain the 4-3-3 formation he has used so far. He has several options up front, with Kaj Sierhuis, Loreintz Rosier and Belkheir competing for a place. He has also released several core players, such as Mohammed Kudus, Edson Alvarez, Jurrien Timber and Dusan Tadic.
Ajax have won two of their three league games this season, losing only to PSV Eindhoven. They will look to get back to winning ways against Fortuna Sittard.
On the other hand, Fortuna Sittard have had a pretty good start to the season, but they will face a big challenge against Ajax. Ajax has a stronger and more experienced squad and has a perfect record against Fortuna Sittard. Even though Ajax just lost to Ludogorets, they are still favorites to win here.
