Manchester City will close their pre-season match against Liverpool in the 2022 Community Shield Final which will be held at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, 30 July 2022.

The Citizens only played two test matches before meeting Liverpool tomorrow night. In their pre-season tour to the United States, Man City won twice, over Club Mexico, Club America (2-1), and Bayern Munich (0-1 score).

If in the first match, Kevin De Bruyne scored two goals for Man City 30′, 45+1′, then in the second match against Bayern, new signing from Borussia Dortmund, Erling Haaland scored his first goal for Man City in the 12th minute.

On the other hand, Liverpool have had quite a few test matches. Last season’s Premier League runners-up have started pre-season since 12 July. However, only 2 of the 4 matches that managed to bring victory.

In the early pre-season match, the Reds were even humiliated by Manchester United with a score of 0-4 in Bangkok, Thailand. After winning over Crystal Palace (2-0), and Leipzig (5-0), Liverpool lost again to RB Salzburg (1-0).

Darwin Nunez, who scored 4 goals against Leipzig, was not moved when he met Salzburg. Jurgen Klopp still needs time to find the best way to integrate his new squad after losing Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich this summer.

Still not stable, the club nicknamed the Red of course did not want to lose the Community Shield trophy. While Pep Guardiola’s troops are predicted to be more prepared in the first official competition of the 2022-23 season.
