Japan will face Indonesia at Al Thumama Stadium Stadium, Doha in the 3rd round match of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. The Japan vs Indonesia national team match can be watched live streaming, see complete information.
Japan is one of the strongest teams in Asia and the favorite to win the 2023 Asian Cup title. However, the Blue Samurai team experienced a big surprise when they lost 1-2 to Iraq in the second match of Group D. This defeat threw them to third place in the standings with three points, the same as Indonesia and Vietnam.
To ensure they qualify for the next round as runners-up in Group D, Japan only needs a draw against Indonesia. However, they certainly don’t want to take any chances and will look to achieve a big win to restore their confidence and momentum.
Indonesia, on the other hand, managed to surprise the public by beating Vietnam 1-0 in the second match of Group D. This victory put them in third place in the standings with three points, ahead of Vietnam who will definitely be eliminated from the 2023 Asian Cup.
To qualify for the next round as one of the best third ranked teams, Indonesia must win over Japan, or at least get a draw, and hope for positive results from the other teams’ matches. However, they are also aware that their task is not easy considering the difference in quality between the two teams.
For this third match, Japan will be without their star player Mitoma, who is injured. Apart from that, coach Hajime Moriyasu will likely rotate players to give opportunities to other players who have not yet appeared.
Indonesia has no injury or suspension problems, and will field their strongest team to face Japan. Coach Shin Tae Yong will rely on a duet of several naturalized and local players such as Ivar Jenner, Elkan Baggott, Justin Hubner, Asnawi Mangkualam, Pratama Arhan, and Egy Maulana Vikri.
Seeing the difference in the quality of the two teams, Japan is clearly more favored to add another three points in group D. However, Indonesia has made many changes to the national football system, so there could be a surprise in the final match of this group stage.
