Chelsea and Everton will meet in Week 28 of the 2022-2023 Premier League on Saturday (19/3/2023) in the morning WIB. The two teams are in different positions in the standings, but both need a win to keep their hopes alive.
The Blues are on a positive trend after picking up two straight wins in the league, including beating Leicester City 3-1 last week. Goals from Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz and Mateo Kovacic saw the Blues move up to 10th place with 41 points.
Even though they are still 11 points behind from the Champions League zone, Chelsea still has the opportunity to qualify for Europe’s elite competition by winning the Champions League this season. They just eliminated Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 and will face Real Madrid in the UCL quarter-finals.
Under the tutelage of Graham Potter, who had come under pressure from his supporters, Chelsea began to find their best form again. They have also been solid at the back conceding just one goal in their last four matches at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea also has an impressive record against Everton. They haven’t lost in their last 27 matches against The Toffees at home (W15 D12). This is the longest unbeaten streak by one Premier League club against another.
Everton itself is struggling to get out of the threat of relegation. They just beat Brentford 1-0 thanks to a quick goal from Dwight McNeil who scored just 35 seconds from the kick-off. The win moved them up to 15th place with 25 points.
However, Everton is still not safe from danger because they are only one point ahead of the red zone and the three teams below have one game more. They also need to improve on their poor away record.
Everton are winless in their last 11 away games in all competitions since beating Southampton in October last year. In the Premier League, they have only won two wins and two clean sheets in their last 30 away matches.
Sean Dyche, who replaced Frank Lampard as Everton manager in December, has brought positive changes to the Merseyside blues. He has won three of his seven games for Everton, equaling Lampard’s number of wins in his 20 this season.
