Team News

Ahead of the fierce derby between Madrid, Ancelotti will again be without Ferland Mendy who is suffering from a hamstring problem, but Aurelien Tchouameni has recovered from illness and is back in the squad. Mariano Diaz is also recovering from the muscle problem that kept him out against Liverpool, with the striker’s presence adding to Ancelotti’s options up front.

David Alaba and Rodrygo picked up injuries against Liverpool and were both ruled out for this game. Alaba could even be out for up to a month with a hamstring injury, while Rodrygo is expected to be out for 10 days with a gluteal problem.

Toni Kroos and Eduardo Camavinga could potentially join Tchouameni in midfield, given that Luka Modric is still recovering from injury.

Meanwhile, Diego Simeone will miss Rodrigo de Paul due to the muscle problem he picked up in the last game against Athletic Bilbao, and Thomas Lemar is also expected to miss out through injury.

The Argentine coach is likely to place Pablo Barrios as a substitute for De Paul’s position in midfield, while on the front lines, Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann will support each other, replacing Angel Correa who was played in the last game.
