The South Korea team will challenge the Peru team in a Friendly Match in Busan Asiad Main Stadium Stadium, Busan on Friday, June 16, 2023. For streaming coverage of South Korea vs Peru, preview and how to watch it, see in this article.
It has been ten years since the last meeting between the two teams, which also took place in a friendly match in South Korea and no goals were scored in that match. Now South Korea along with Asian football is growing rapidly and increasingly shrinking the gap with European and American football.
After successfully escaping the 2022 World Cup group phase thanks to a victory over Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal, South Korea failed to win in two friendly matches last March. The last two matches of the South Korean national team have failed to win against South American teams. However, those were stronger opponents, namely Uruguay (one draw, one loss) and Colombia (draw).
Meanwhile, Peru, despite not qualifying for the 2022 World Cup and having a squad of more than half of whom are over 30 years old, has managed to impress quite a bit. The South American team only lost once, drew once, and won three times in the last five matches in all competitions. Peru are also winless in their last two friendly matches on FIFA Days last March when they lost to Germany and drew with Morocco, before that they managed to win three straight wins in friendlies from September to November last year.
However, there is one fact that Peru is not playing well at home to the opponent. They have only won three, drawn three and lost 14 in the last 20 away matches. Interestingly, in 10 of the last 12 defeats at the enemy base, Peru was unable to score a single goal.
The latest news regarding the player, Hwang Hee-chan returns to the national team after missing the March 2023 matches due to injury. Other stars such as Son Heung-min, Lee Kang-in were also present at the summons this time.
However, Kim Min-jae, a player who plays for Serie A champions Napoli, was unable to participate. Therefore, coach Jurgen Klinsmann will deploy the best possible formation, to end the winless streak that has reached four matches.
On the other hand, senior defender Luis Advincula is absent due to injury, while 39-year veteran forward Paolo Guerrero – who has not been called up to the national team since 2021 until now, has suddenly received a call from coach Juan Reynoso for this East Asian tour.
