Telling a story about the various temptations experienced in the entertainment industry, the drama series ‘New Vanity Fair’ is scheduled to start airing on Monday, March 13, 2023. The drama, which was broadcast on Beijing Satellite TV, can also be watched online via the live streaming video platform Youku.
This drama series, also known as ‘Spring Day and Warm Sun’, features Z. Tao (Huang Zi Tao), Wu Gang, Sun Yi, and Liu Bei in the main cast. Known as a singer and songwriter from China who debuted as a member of EXO-M, the Chinese sub-unit of EXO, Z. Tao will play the character Song Yang, a star actor who is famous but does not have great acting skills.
Unlike other emotional dramas set in urban areas, ‘New Vanity Fair’ does not tell stories about family relationships or marriage. However, this drama tells the story of the careers of literary and artistic workers in building their skills amidst the hustle and bustle of the entertainment world.

New Vanity Fair Storyline
Even though he is known as a famous celebrity, Song Yang (Z. Tao) turns out to have fears about his mission as an actor. Realizing that he doesn’t have much talent in acting, Song Yang seeks guidance from Ding Ke Mang (Wu Gang), an old artist who is known as an outstanding performance artist who has spent half of his life on stage.
The relationship between two artists from different generations began when the theater decided to recruit Song Yang to partner Ding Ke Mang in a drama entitled ‘Father and Son’. The goal is to take advantage of Song Yang’s popularity so that tickets can be sold out.
At first, Ding Mo Mo (Sun Yi) didn’t like Song Yang’s presence to pair up with her father. But gradually the daughter of Ding Ke Mang was able to accept the actor’s presence, knew and even fell in love with Song Yang.
Meanwhile, the relationship between Ding Ke Mang and his wife, Jiang Ye (Liu Bei), is on the verge of breaking up and is even on the verge of divorce because of Jiang Ye’s tough and domineering personality. Luckily, in the end, the husband and wife can understand and respect each other.
Under Ding Ke Mang’s tutelage, Song Yang learns to overcome his impatience, resist the temptations of fame and fortune, and understand the world of performing arts with respect. Eventually Song Yang managed to become a complete actor, both in terms of popularity and skills.
