Get ready to soar “to infinity and beyond” with the legendary space ranger Buzz Lightyear in the movie about his origins, Lightyear. This spinoff film from the Toy Story franchise will premiere in local cinema networks on June 17, 2022.
Fans of Pixar movies will be familiar with Buzz Lightyear, the popular space ranger toy. In this Lightyear film, director Angus MacLane takes a unique perspective in presenting Buzz’s story. Buzz in the Lightyear film is not Buzz the toy, but a character from the film who inspired the production of the Buzz toy. So basically, the audience who watched Lightyear are watching the same movie that was loved by children in the Toy Story world like Andy.
The voice actor lineup in Pixar’s first spinoff film is phenomenal. Chris Evans (Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe) will voice Buzz as the lead role, with Keke Palmer (Nope) playing Izzy Hawthorne, the grandson of Buzz’s best friend. Lightyear was also enlivened by other famous names: The Good Dinosaur’s director, Peter Sohn; legendary actor, James Brolin; even Jojo Rabbit’s director, Taika Waititi.

Synopsis
Buzz Lightyear (Chris Evans) is on a mission in outer space when he makes a fatal mistake that leaves him and his crew stranded on an alien planet. They work together to try to find a way out. After a year has passed, Buzz is finally ready to test a hyper-speed flight that is expected to be their key out of that planet.
During his flight, Buzz experiences a time distortion that causes his plane to crash on a planet many years from the time he took off. He’s trying to get back to his crew. In this endeavor, Buzz is accompanied by his robot cat, Sox (Peter Sohn), and several new recruits he meets. Things get worse when Zurg (James Brolin) arrives and becomes a threat to Buzz and his friends. Will the space ranger be able to return to his crew safely?
