Starting Grid MotoGP Spain 2023: Aleix Espargaro Leads the Front Line, Fabio Quartararo Falls

The Spanish MotoGP starting grid for 2023 has been determined after the qualifying session ended on Saturday (29/4/2023). Aleix Espargaro won pole position after scoring the fastest lap time at the Jerez Circuit. The Aprilia Racing racer will lead the front row with Jack Miller (KTM Red Bull) and Luca Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing).

Espargaro surprised many people with the extraordinary performance he showed in qualifying for the Spanish MotoGP 2023. He managed to record a lap time of 1 minute 37.216 seconds, which was a new record at Jerez. This is Espargaro’s first pole position since joining Aprilia in 2017.

Miller and Martin also appeared impressive by placing second and third with a narrow time difference from Espargaro. Miller was only 0.059 seconds behind, while Martin was only 0.086 seconds behind. Both of them managed to outperform other top racers such as Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Team Lenovo), Dani Pedrosa (KTM Red Bull), and Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing).

The second row will be filled by Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM), Francesco Bagnaia and Pedrosa. Miguel Oliveira, Johann Zarco and Luca Marini had to settle for 7th, 8th and 9th positions after not being able to keep up with the tempo of Espargaro, Miller and Martin. All three hope to improve their position in tomorrow’s race.

The fourth row will be filled by Vinales, Takaaki Nakagami (LCR Honda IDEMITSU), and Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP). Vinales admitted that he was disappointed with the qualifying results for the Spanish MotoGP for 2023 after only being able to occupy 10th place. He admitted that he had difficulty finding a good rhythm at Jerez.

One of the racers who had a bad day in qualifying for the Spanish MotoGP 2023 was Fabio Quartararo. The French racer failed to qualify for the Q2 session after only being able to place sixth in the Q1 session. Quartararo must be satisfied with the 16th starting position in tomorrow’s race.

Quartararo admitted that he was very disappointed with the qualifying results for the Spanish MotoGP for 2023. He said that he could not get a good feeling with his motorbike.
