Spanish MotoGP Qualification Results 2023: Aleix Espargaro Makes History with Pole Position

Aleix Espargaro managed to make history by winning pole position in the 2023 Spanish MotoGP qualification which took place at the Jerez Circuit, Saturday (29/4/2023). The Aprilia Racing racer showed extraordinary performance by recording the new fastest lap time at Jerez, which was 1 minute 37.216 seconds.

This is the first pole position for Espargaro since joining the Aprilia team in 2017. This is also the first pole position for Aprilia since returning to MotoGP in 2015. Espargaro defeated two young drivers who also appeared impressive, namely Jack Miller (KTM Red Bull) and Luca Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing).

MotoGP Spain 2023 Results: Sprint Race Champion Jerez, Miller and Bagnaia Complete the Podium

Brad Binder earned a dramatic victory in the MotoGP Sprint Race at Jerez, beating Francesco Bagnaia and teammate Jack Miller in a fierce battle...

Miller and Martin will fill the front row alongside Espargaro after finishing second and third by a narrow margin of time. Miller was only 0.059 seconds behind Espargaro, while Martin was only 0.086 seconds behind. Both of them also managed to outperform other top racers such as Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Team Lenovo), Dani Pedrosa (KTM Red Bull), and Maverick Vinales (Aprilia Racing).

Quartararo Experience Bad Results

Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo had a bad day in qualifying for the Spanish MotoGP 2023. The French racer failed to qualify for the Q2 session after only being able to place sixth in the Q1 session. The Monster Energy Yamaha racer has to be content with 16th starting position in tomorrow’s race.

One of the reasons for Quartararo’s failure was the brilliant performance of Brad Binder. The Red Bull KTM racer managed to be the fastest in the Q1 session by scoring a lap time of 1 minute 36.541 seconds.

Binder then continued his slick performance in the Q2 session by placing fourth. He only lost to Espargaro, Miller, and Martin. Bezzecchi also managed to beat his more experienced teammate, namely Dani Pedrosa, who had to settle for 6th starting position.
