Lionel Messi scored a goal in Argentina’s 2-0 win over Mexico in the second round of Group C of the 2022 World Cup. The goal led La Pulga to equal Diego Maradona’s achievements in the World Cup.
Messi scored and assisted his team-mates to help Argentina win 2-0 against Mexico. The Paris Saint-Germain star’s long-range shot found the net for Mexico.

Messi’s goal took the 35-year-old superstar to 8 goals for Argentina in the World Cup, level with the legendary Diego Maradona, and only 2 goals behind Gabriel Batistuta who has scored 10 goals.
The only drawback of Messi from Diego Maradona is that he has not managed to lead Argentina to become the World Cup champion. Could the opportunity be in Qatar?

The third round of the group C stage will be the deciding event for Argentina, whether they can qualify for the knockout phase. Currently Argentina is second in Group C standings with 3 points, ahead of Saudi Arabia (3 points) and Mexico (0 points).
