The AS Roma team will challenge the AC Milan team in a Matchday 3 Serie A Italy in Olimpico Stadium, Roma on Friday, September 01, 2023. For streaming coverage of AS Roma vs AC Milan, preview and how to watch it, see in this article.
AC Milan will face a tough challenge when they travel to Roma headquarters in the third week of Serie A. This match is important for both teams, because Milan wants to continue their impressive performance and win the title, while Roma want to rise and show their class.
Milan is in very good form having won all the matches this season. They lead the standings with the best goal difference. Several new players such as Mike Maignan, Olivier Giroud and Christian Pulisic have made a big contribution to the Rossoneri’s success.
Roma also experienced many problems with personnel. Tammy Abraham, Paulo Dybala, Nicola Zalewski and Renato Sanches are all injured. Romelu Lukaku has not played for Chelsea this summer so he is not ready to feature. Andrea Belotti has yet to gain the trust of Mourinho. Mourinho also could not be present on the bench due to suspension.
Roma did not spend much money in the transfer market this summer. They just spent 3.5 million Euros in transfer fees. Most of their new players are players on loan from other clubs. Mourinho has said that Roma’s current players have to prove themselves, as they did not perform well last season and nobody wants to join Roma.
Lukaku is also a clear example of this. He played very badly last season and was often injured. He only returned to his best at the end of the season, but no one will forget how he played in the Champions League final.
Roma have also had a poor start with just one point from two games. They drew 2-2 with Salernitana at home in their opener and lost 2-1 to Hellas Verona away from home despite playing with more men. With what has been shown, Roma needs to get up soon and get back into competition to get into the top six and get a ticket to the European Cup next season.
For Mourinho, home games are always very important. Therefore, Roma have scored in 20 of their last 21 home matches. Milan have also won only three of their last 14 matches as guests of Roma. So, despite the huge difference in performance between the two teams, Roma promises to give Pioli’s men plenty of trouble.
However, Milan is not afraid of anyone. They proved it last season when they competed with Inter for the title until the last round. They have also achieved important wins over big teams such as Juventus, Napoli or Lazio.
Milan will not let Roma dampen their enthusiasm. Milan will not let Mourinho work a miracle without being on the bench. Milan will not let Roma stand in their way of winning the Serie A title.
