Frosinone and Napoli both underwent coach changes after last season. Frosinone managed promotion to Serie A with Fabio Grosso as coach, but he left the team soon after the season and was replaced by former AS Roma coach, Eusebio Di Francesco.
Meanwhile, Napoli clinched their first Serie A title in over 30 years with Luciano Spalletti as coach, but he too decided to leave and was replaced by another former AS Roma coach, Rudi Garcia.
Frosinone are well prepared for the new season, going unbeaten in three friendlies earlier in the campaign and recently beating AC Pisa in the Coppa Italia. However, the real challenge for the Eusebio Di Francesco era may only start from the game against Napoli.
On the other hand, Napoli have not lost many key players this summer, only center back Kim Min-jae has moved to another club. Meanwhile, they still have stars like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or Victor Osimhen ready to defend their title. Napoli also have a good record against Frosinone, winning all of their last six meetings with a goal difference of 21-1.
Regarding the departure of Kim Man-Jae, Napoli are not too worried about the departure of the South Korean player, because they still have Leo Ostigard or Juan Jesus as a replacement. Only Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa will miss Napoli’s new season opener through injury.
According to several well-known football sites, both teams had a solid defense in their respective leagues last season, but Frosinone’s statistics are likely to be difficult to maintain this year.
Although Napoli will have to adapt to life without coach Spalletti, but with old players looking to defend their crown, they are likely to pick up a win in their first match and not concede a goal.
