Man City also didn’t change their squad much compared to last season. They only released Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, but got Josko Gvardiol and Mateo Kovacic as replacements. They also managed to hold on to Kyle Walker and Bernardo Silva, who had been linked with several other clubs.
Man City only had three summer friendlies, when they won two and lost one. Unfortunately, entering the start of the season, City had just lost to Arsenal in the English Super Cup, which made them even more motivated to start the new season with a win.
The match between Burnley and Man City will be an unequal one. Man City is a team that is clearly superior in terms of quality and experience. Burnley will try to defend tightly and rely on counterattacks.
However, if Man City can control the ball and create chances, they will be difficult to hold. The history of meetings between the two teams also shows the dominance of Man City.
