This week, the Arab Champion Club Cup continues with exciting matches, one of which is the important match between Al-Nassr and Al Shorta which took place at the Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Stadium on Wednesday (9/8).
Al-Nassr, reinforced by Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane, managed to secure a ticket to the semifinals of the 2023 edition of the cup with a 3-1 win over Raja Casablanca. This is the first time the Saudi club have reached the semi-finals of the competition since 1995.

On the other hand, Al Shorta, the Iraqi Premier League champion last season, has also impressed in the domestic and regional arena. The home team managed to beat Al Sadd 4-2 in their previous fixture and will be looking to achieve a similar result this week.
Both teams finished runners-up in their respective groups. Al Nassr started the tournament in a goalless draw. They are unbeaten with two wins and two draws. The Saudi team has scored eight and conceded three goals in four 2023 Arab Champions League Cups. Meanwhile, Al-Shorta have picked up two wins, a loss and a draw in this tournament. They have scored six goals and conceded four. The team won their last match against AL Sadd 4-2 to advance to the semifinals.

Al Nassr have a great squad but haven’t been able to live up to expectations over the past year. Ronaldo has scored in his last three matches in the competition and will be looking to extend his tally this week. The Portugal international is one of the best footballers and he will be hungry to win the Arab Champions Club Cup. On the other hand, Al Shorta has a tough squad and has shown good form this year. They had the best defense in the Iraqi Premier League last season and conceded just 24 goals in 38 league games throughout their campaign.
Despite not having star players, Al Shorta relies on fighting spirit and solid teamwork. They have Karrar Al-Abba Si and Munaf Younus as central defenders who have to block Al Nassr’s attacks. Under the crossbar, Ahmed Basil will be their main goalkeeper.
On paper, Al-Nassr is the superior team and should be able to win this semifinal match. A win for Al Nassr in this match could make the final between the Saudi clubs, namely the winner between Al-Hilal and Al Shabab.
