Barcelona vs Manchester City Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Friendly Match, Where To Watch Livestream

A special friendly match which also aims to raise funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) research at the Luzon Foundation will bring together Barcelona and Manchester City at Camp Nou, Wednesday, August 24, 2022. The match, which will be a tactical duel between two Barcelona legends – Xavi and Pep Guardiola – comes after former Barca coach and goalkeeper Juan Garlos Unzue was diagnosed with ALS two years ago.

Barcelona welcomes this friendly with full confidence after successfully thrashing Real Sociedad 4-1 in the second week of La Liga. The victory boosted the position of the Blaugrana to fifth in the standings.

Bara’s latest spearhead, Robert Lewandowski, contributed two goals in the match – complemented by goals from Ousman Dembele and Ansu Fati. The Guinea-Bissau-born youngster who is tipped to be Lionel Messi’s successor at Barca not only scored, but also provided assists in the two goals scored by Lewandowski and Dembele.

Instead, Manchester City came to Camp Nou after being forced to share points by Newcastle United through a 3-3 draw on matchday three of the Premier League. Even City had fallen behind before Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva managed to tear Nick Pope’s goal when the second half match had been running for about 15 minutes.

In the last six head-to-head encounters in the Champions League, City have only beaten Barca once, the last meeting was in November 2016. Meanwhile, Barca won their other five matches, including three at Camp Nou with a total score of 7-1.
