Multi-talented star from China Lay Zhang is ready to greet CDrama fans again through the TV series Challenges at Midlife which will air from Wednesday, February 23, 2022. The latest drama, starring one of the members of the K-Pop group EXO, can also be watched online through the live streaming video platform Youku.
Challenges at Midlife is scheduled to air on several television platforms including Dragon TV, Youku, and Zhejiang TV. This sentimental melodrama, adapted from the novel of the same name by A Nai, is an emotional story involving Jian Hong Cheng and Ning Yu as they enter middle age.
Lei Jia Yin and Yuan Quan lined up as the main pair. While EXO’s Lay plays Ning Shu, Ning Yu’s younger brother who is described as having a complex, pathetic, paranoid, unforgiving, and two-faced character.

Synopsis
Although Jian Hong Cheng (Lei Jia Yin) immediately fell in love with Ning Yu (Yuan Quan), his love was always rejected by the beautiful student. However, the son of the Director of the Agricultural Machinery Factory No. 2 Linshui – Jian Zhi Gou continued to fight for his love since he was in college until he finally gave up when Ning Yu decided to marry another man.
On the other hand, his declining health made Jian Zhi Gou begin to prepare Hong Cheng to inherit his factory. For that, he asks his daughter, Jian Min Min (Luo Hai Qiong), to marry his apprentice Zhang Li Xin (Liang Guan Hua) who is currently running the factory.
However, Jian Zhi Gou’s plan failed due to Zhang Li Xin’s betrayal which instead strengthened his position in the factory and expelled Hong Cheng from the city after his father-in-law died.
Several years later, Jian Hong Cheng finds out that Zhang Li Xin is auctioning off his father’s factory to pay off a debt. In order to save the fruits of his father’s hard work, Hong Cheng decides to return home and fight for ownership of the factory.
His return brings him to reunite with Ning Yu, who has been divorced from her cheating husband. And he just realized why Ning Yu kept rejecting his love in the past.
While Jian Hong Cheng struggles to fix the mess left by Zhang Li Xin, Ning Yu has to face Ning Shu (Lay Zhang) who keeps creating problems. Jiang Hong Cheng and Ning Yu worked hand in hand to stop each other’s family’s unreasonable actions, and their relationship grew stronger over time.
