John Wick: Chapter 4 Storyline
In New York City, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) sets out for revenge against the High Table, the council of crime lords that govern the underworld’s most powerful criminal organization, while hiding underground with the Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne). His act of killing the only individual on the High Table, the Elder, in Morocco instantly affected those closest to him.
One of them is Winston Scott (Ian McShane) who was not only fired as the manager of the New York branch of the Hotel Continental, but also had to witness the destruction of his hotel as punishment from Marquis Vincent de Gramont (Bill Skarsgård), a senior member of the High Table, for Winston’s failure to kill John. Even his co-worker, Charon (Lance Reddick), had to lose his life.
Marquis Vincent de Gramont became an arrogant member of the High Table because he had the power and full support of the council, through his ability to convince the council that he was capable of arresting John Wick. Upon meeting with John, Winston suggests that the Excommunicado status holder challenge de Gramont to a duel, as winning would free him from his obligations to the High Table.
In connection with the duel, de Gramont then recruits Caine (Donnie Yen), a High Table assassin who is also an old friend of John Wick. Threats against his wife and children forced Caine to comply with de Gramont’s request.
As if not satisfied, de Gramont continues to stir up trouble and target the Hotel Continental Osaka, which is run by one of John’s best friends, Shimazu Koji (Hiroyuki Sanada) and his daughter, Akira (Rina Sawayama). Caine joins the trip to Osaka with the team from the High Table. But their act is interrupted by trackers chasing John Wick for the contract, which de Gramont names as ‘Mr. Nobody’ (Shamier Anderson).
