Picking up the story of the medical staff’s struggles in fighting the SARS incident that occurred in Taiwan in 2003, the drama series ‘Island Nation: Hope’ is scheduled to air starting Saturday, March 18, 2023. The drama series aired in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the incident can be watched online via the PTS Drama live streaming video platform.
Zhong Yao and Ke Yu Lun were lined up as the main players, acting as Head Doctor of Internal Medicine Department Chen Yu Mei and Emergency Room Doctor Luo Shi Kai respectively. The two doctors are fighting hard to help medical workers and patients who have been neglected by the government’s extreme decisions.

Island Nation, Hope Storyline
The SARS epidemic that exploded in Taiwan in 2003 started with ignorance and wrong decisions about the infection cases that occurred at Bo Ai Hospital. Due to fear and lack of knowledge, the city government instantly decided to quarantine the hospital without warning.
Medical workers, patients and family members were forcibly sealed in the hospital which was on the verge of collapse. Meanwhile, everyone who had contact with the hospital environment was automatically treated as a source of infection.
Internal Medicine Department Head Doctor Chen Yu Mei (Zhong Yao) tries to lead her colleagues to fight to the end. Meanwhile, emergency room doctor Luo Shi Kai, who had lost his chance to become vice president of Bo Ai Hospital due to his perceived lack of background and political skills, is caught between politics, medical ethics, and the media.
