Tom Holland Becomes Antonio Bandera’s ‘Zorro’ Choice

Tom Holland’s action in ‘The Uncharted’ was successful in stealing Antonio Banderas’ heart. The legendary actor who is identical with his role as the masked swordsman ‘Zorro’ even intends to pass the character on to Tom Holland.

It is undeniable, among the dozens of characters he has played since 1982, ‘Zorro’ remains one of Antonio Banderas’ most iconic roles. ‘The Mask of Zorro’ (1998) was Banderas’ first film as Alejandro Murrieta who took on the role of Zorro, replacing Anthony Hopkins’ Don Diego de la Vega.

After ‘The Mask of Zorro’ (1998) and ‘The Legend of Zorro’ (2005), the 62-year-old veteran actor now seems to have had an actor candidate who will inherit his role as ‘Zorro’. Through an interview with ComicBook.com for the latest animated film ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’, Banderas expressed his desire to bequeath ‘Zorro’ to Marvel star Tom Holland.

“Tom Holland. I did Uncharted with him, and he’s so energetic and fun, and he has this spark too. Why not?” Banderas said.

This interview also reveals the longing for the Spanish-born actor to return to the role of ‘Zorro’ in the film trilogy so that he can pass on his ‘mask’ to someone, as Hopkins did to him.

“”Yes, I will. I would consider that possibility (passing down the ‘Zorro’ mask to another actor). Why not? I think in today’s interview I said something like that to someone… I said that if they mentioned Zorro, I would do what Anthony Hopkins did in the first film and pass the torch to someone else.”
