Netflix Animation is back to entertain the world in its new original animated film, The Sea Beast. The film, featuring Karl Urban and Zaris-Angel Hator, will be released on July 8, 2022 on the streaming service Netflix.
True to its title, The Sea Beast explores the story of a civilization that believes they need to fight off the city-destroying sea monsters. A group of people were assigned to hunt down these terrible creatures. Of all the hunters, Jacob Holland (Karl Urban) is the name most loved by people, including by a little girl named Maisie Brumble (Zaris-Angel Hator). Maisie, who wants to join the fight against the terrible creatures, decides to sneak into Jacob’s ship and goes on an adventure with him and his crew.
The Sea Beast will be directed by Chris Williams, which will be his debut as a feature-length solo director. Previously, Chris had co-directed films that were nominated for and even won an Academy Award: Moana and Big Hero 6.
Of the two films, the quality of the director speaks for itself. Combined with production and animation from Netflix Animation and Sony Pictures Imageworks, The Sea Beast will surely provide an epic experience for the audience.

Masie Brumble (Zaris-Angel Hator) is an orphaned girl who is attracted to sea monster hunters. She often reads books about the courage of those who fought terrible creatures to protect the city. Masie’s parents themselves were one of those ‘heroes’ during their lifetime.
When the crew of Captain Crow (Jared Harris) is tasked with slaying a much-feared monster, Masie, who acquires her parents’ bravery, visits Crow’s beloved henchman, Jacob Holland (Karl Urban). She begged to be allowed to join the crew on their journey, but Jacob refused.
With her naivety and recklessness, Masie sneaked into Captain Crow’s ship. That rash decision takes the little girl on an adventure that is exciting, thrilling, and life-changing.
